Florida’s Waters: Ours to Protect Web Presence
Desired Outcome: To present the Water Resources Management division of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection in a way that tells a story about the work that they do, while also presenting educational resources about water to Florida’s citizenry.
Content Strategy: One of the primary objectives of the content strategy was to present the content in a more visual and compelling way than it’s presented elsewhere. From the home page, to the Water Channel, photography and video are used to help tell the story. In the Restoring Rivers, Lakes and Streams section of the site there are 8 original audio slideshows, with video interviews, comprising more than 60 minutes of original programming. The Watershed and River Basin Map provides a map interface to all the watersheds of Florida, providing access to detailed descriptions and resources for each watershed. ePostcards and Wallpaper images are provided to help site visitors share their interest in protecting Florida’s waters.

Dive Rite, Inc.’s Corporate Web Presence

Homepage, DiveRite.com (launched, 2007)
Desired Outcome: To reintroduce this pioneer in technical diving equipment and manufacturing to the internet audience and to rescue Dive Rite from search engine obscurity.
Content Strategy: The content mix was designed to establish the Dive Rite web presence as a definitive resource on cave and technical diving. A Solution Finder database (Version 1.0) was created to provide the site visitor with an opportunity to learn tips and techniques regarding gear configuration. A History of Cave Diving timeline was added to not only provide the visitor with an engaging story about the origins of cave diving, but to place Dive Rite — one of the industry’s pioneers — within that historical context.
Additional content, including stories from Dive Rite Ambassadors, and Dive Rite Customers, helps round out the Catalog content. A blog keeps the site visitors up to date on a fairly regular basis on matters such as new product development, product testing, etc. The entire site is managed by the client through Fusionspark Media’s proprietary Content Management System.

Whidbey and Camano Island’s Tourism Web Presence

Homepage, Whidbey and Camano Islands (launched 2008)
Desired Outcome: To capture travelers interested in the Pacific Northest during the dreaming and planning phase of destination research.
Content Strategy: While Whidbey and Camano are well-known travel destinations in the Puget Sound area, they are less well-known than the San Juan Islands, to the North. The strategy was to offer compelling, editorial content that would more typically be found in an editorial publication than a travel web site. The site’s five main navigation headings were based on travel marketing research done by the state of Washington, and reflects the topic areas of interest for Whidbey and Camano target demographics.
Editorial content, such as the story about Penn Cove mussels, can include any combination of text, photos and video. Throughout the site, there is functional content, such as a Calendar, a Lodging database and useful content such as downloadable trail maps. Much of the content that is dynamically delivered from databases is available also as RSS feeds. Site visitors are encouraged to bookmark, share the site via ePostcards and to share their own stories about visiting Whidbey and Camano Islands. Rounding out the content is an historical timeline.
